The ShotPak company, makers of single-serving drinks such as the Lemon Drop pictured here, has said that they've come up with the "First Ever Vodka Energy Drink Formula" for their single-serving audience. While this is categorically false (Think Zygo, P.I.N.K. and a few others), I'm sure it's the first that comes in an easy-to-conceal packet that allows you to sneak it in to the movies and get all amped up while watching the next great romantic comedy. The FDA has ruled against Redux Beverages, the maker of Cocaine energy drink, and has ordered it to change the name of the product. The FDA said that advertising it as an alternative to the real cocaine and also saying that their claim that it can cure certain diseases is a crock. They also thought the name just pretty much sucked and wasn't something they wanted. Though vodka's that contain the essentials of energy drinks are certainly nothing new at this point, this one is worth noting because of it's country of origin. England is now the proud home of it's own energy vodka that contains guarana, creatine, d-ribose and natural caffeine and delivered at 41.25% ABV. Alice Red has a clean taste with subtle notes of chocolate, vanilla, cream and coffee and is distilled 5 times in London from traditionally yeast fermented English grain grown in Norfolk & Suffolk. So, two energy drink items came to my attention today. Most alcohol-related blogs don't cover this stuff but a) I love them and b) it's becoming a pretty big part the clubbing and bar lifestyle. Hooters is launching an energy drink in two flavors, a citrus flavored one and berry flavored one, the latter being sugar-free. Apparently, both don't have a "funny aftertaste" like some other drinks. They'll sell for US$1.99 and feature real Hooters' waitresses on the cans.
