Naked Scot Hangover Free Whisky

It's a whisky with the word "Scot" right in the name and even has a picture of Scotland on the bottle.  Of course, it's made in Scotland but by an Australian company.  The company says that the whisky is free from pesticides and herbicides which, they also say, is part of why you can get some particularly nasty hangovers.  It's distilled on the Island of Mull then aged 3 years.  There seems to be some dispute as to whether it's a single malt or a blend, though.  From my understanding, you get a hangover by drinking until you can't feel your face, but maybe the lack of pesticides will help that a bit and I'm all for that.  Naked Scot Whisky

The Drammies Are Here!

The Drammies are the People's Choice Awards of the Scotch world, which makes them nothing like the Grammy's which they are named after, but that's okay, the awards are still fun. Next year, I expect I will be a presenter at them. I'll bet the world can't wait to see me do one-armed push-ups and walk off the wrong side of the stage. The Drammies!

Huge freakin' bottle of whisky goes on sale

This whisky seems perfect for American shores. It's always easier to sell to us fat Americans something that is large quantity, regardless of actual quality. It's the founding principle of super-sizing, buffets, and Jennifer Lopez. Ardbeg distillery is creating this 14 pound bottle of whisky (shown inhich the picture next to a regular-sized bottle) and calling it Mór which means 'big' in Gaelic. It's full-cask strength and they've created 1,000 of the bottles for sale all over the world and you can have one of your own for US$712 (£350). Ardbeg distillery

Live Review: The Knot

Rather than write a review on a product that was sent to me, then read it over, and then edit it significantly, I figured that I would just write it as I drink it. This way you'll see how much actually gets edited out on my other reviews. This session is brought to you by the Irish whiskey, The Knot . Open it up Good God! It smells like someone just shoved the jar of butterscotch from my Grandma's house up my nose then topped it off with butterscotch topping from Farrell's. You know, Farrell's, where you are a little piggy, you have a little snout, you love to come to Farrell's because that's where you pig out. It better NOT taste like this and still have those ads with the rusty, old guy telling you not to be a wimp. Pop a swig The butterscotch smell becomes pleasing and hits my tongue without being that strong, but then it hits me. OH MY GOD THE BURN! This stuff makes *me* want to make a commercial with lots of cussing in it. The second sip doesn't se...

Whisky returns to England

Over a hundred years ago, whisky production stopped in England and has been in pretty much every industrialized since then. Now whisky has returned to the island with St. George's Distillery, named after the patron saint of the country. The first and only whisky distillery in the country expects to start actually selling bottles in December of 2009. Norfolk Whisky Co.

Drink The Knot

There's a new product out called The Knot which is an Irish Whiskey shooter blended to be...well...a shot. You don't make no fancy-pants 'tini out of it and you don't pair it with a seared Ahi with avocado. You pour it in a shot glass, you shoot it, you get drunk. End of story. The Knot

Muslim World's First 20 Year Whisky; Middle East Peace Ensues

The Muree Brewery in Rawalpindi, Pakistan was originally built in the 1860's in order to provide ale and spirits for the British Raj. It has start and stopped several times thanks to things like coup's, being burned down, and Islamist purge's, but now they have come back with the Muslim world's first 20 year old whisky. Let's spend a minute talking about devotion to the craft here: The alcohol can't be legally drunk by 97% of the country, nor can it be exported, however, they make about 110,000 gallons of whisky (and 600,000 gallons of beer) and it all gets sold. The maker estimates that 99% of his customers are Muslim and there's been considerable debate about striking down the law prohibiting Muslims from drinking alcohol. Free Pakistan! Muree Brewery

Oak Cross Whisky

The fellas over at Compass Box are shaking it up yet again with Oak Cross Whisky. This one is a single-malt blend of three other single malts that are all aged around 10 years already. The blend is aged in casks that were first filled with Bourbon and are made from American AND new French Oak woods. This one's all yours for about US$40. Oak Cross Whisky
